Clark Harrison graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1973 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Clark started out as an Engineering Trainee (Coop) with West Penn Power Company in Greensburg PA. After graduating from Penn State, he and his wife Sally relocated to Allentown PA so he could join Pennsylvania Power & Light’s environmental group and later advance into fuel supply and byproduct sales. After almost 10 years at PP&L, Clark accepted a position as Sr. Marketing Specialist at Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) in Alliance OH and was then recruited by a B&W client, The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), to commission and manage the Coal Quality Development Center in Homer City, PA.
After 10 years managing projects and staff to develop and demonstrate new coal monitoring processing technologies for the non-profit EPRI, Clark and his co-workers launched CQ Inc., a for-profit subsidiary of EPRI that was later spun off as an employee-owned company. During the 10-year history of CQ Inc., Clark and his team developed and operated facilities to convert biomass to electricity, soybean oil to biodiesel, waste sawdust to residential pellet fuel, and unfinished hardwood into premium prefinished flooring. With Clark’s leadership, CQ Inc. also designed, managed construction, commissioned, and operated facilities to use bituminous coal for the production of synthetic fuel that qualified for hundreds of million dollars in production tax credits under Section 29 of the federal tax code.
